The Museum of the Moon landed at Norton Priory in October 2021. We were asked to help with the installation of this exciting artwork as part of Celebrate Halton Borough of Culture 2021.
Museum of the Moon is a touring artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram. Over its lifetime, the idea is that the Museum of the Moon will be presented in a number of different ways both indoors and outdoors, so altering the experience and interpretation of the artwork. As it travels from place to place, it will gather new musical compositions and an ongoing collection of personal responses, stories and mythologies, as well as highlighting the latest moon science.
dBS Solutions where approached by the venue to provide a solution to rigging this 7m wide artwork. The Priory roof structure needed some work and an assessment of the structure to ensure the safe hanging of the moon just where it needed to be. Our rigging team undertook a number of sight visits in order to provide a clear plan of what was needed and on the installation day where on hand to rig and light the Moon too. We provided an audio system for the sound track to the artwork throughout the event.
Norton Priory had their turn of hosting the installation back in October last year. If your interested in going to see the moon, the following link shows the tour dates. https://my-moon.org/tour-dates/
