dBS Solutions recently supplied audio to the Manchester show on Rhiannon Giddens UK tour. The North Carolina born singer song writer, began on her tour to celebrate the launch of her new Album ‘Freedom Highway’ a solo album with much of her own original material.
Rhiannon is known as the lead singer, violinist, banjo player and a founding member of the Grammy-winning country, blues and old time music band ‘Carolina Chocolate Drops’. In addition to her work with the Drops, Giddens has released a previous solo album ‘Tomorrow Is My Turn’ (2005). Rhiannon is an alumna of the elite North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics and a 2000 graduate of Oberlin Conservatory where she studied opera.
The show featured a unique blend of guitar, double bass and drums along with Giddens on banjo, with support from mandolin and percussion. From A cappella sections to rap and several tributes to some of her American heroes, the Manchester crowd embraced the folks star who delivered the set with pure enjoyment.
Providing a stage package of mics and monitoring, along with additional elements of the front of house system, our team delivered to a sell out crowd of fans of the US artist. Providing a Digico SD9 on stage with an SD12 out front, ensured the touring engineers had the tools to deliver the detail needed. On stage was a mixture of Ohm 112 wedges and Sennheiser IEM systems.
Thanks again to our system engineers Damian Breeze on stage and Nick Jackson out front.
