November is a busy time for dBS Solutions. with all the firework displays, but also the Christmas light switch ons which we do around the region. This year was a first for us, having been approached by McAthurglen Designer Outlets to Support the Christmas lights switch on for Cheshire Oaks outlet.
The event marks the start of the festive period and also boasted the return of Europe’s largest walk-in artificial Christmas Tree. The switch on took place last Wednesday which saw Radio City’s Leanne and Dave present the evening followed by the 100,000 lights being switched on.
The guests were also able to listen to a live orchestra performing the music to the film The Snowman which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. To finish the evening off with a bang the event concluded with a musical firework show.
dBS Solutions provided full production for the event. We designed a sound system utilising our db Technologies VIO L210 to cover the huge site. Microphones were a mixture of DPA, AKG and Rode all mixed from one of our Digico SD9 consoles. Lighting on the stage was a mixture of moving lights from Robe, Chauvet and Elation all controlled from our Chamsys MQ100 Pro. Also on site to show the film was two large LED screens, one at the back of the stage and a second one to the side for guests to watch this Christmas Classic.
dBS Solutions Project Manager Chris Bogg was on site to ensure that everything from dressing rooms, power, and heaters for the orchestra on stage were just right.
Despite the cold, record crowds attended the event which our client suggests is the best one they have staged yet. Thanks go to all our team on this, along with our production partners for ensuring a smooth running event.
