dBS Solutions are pleased to be working together with Chester Zoo on their first ever large-scale gardens and science festival throughout the summer: Wild Worlds.
Running every day from 26 May to 30 September, nine interactive installations, on public display for the first time, will be complemented by a major programme of events to form the zoo’s new Wild Worlds festival.
From a botanist’s lab to oversized talking chairs and a dormouse garden, this wide range of specially commissioned artistic collaborations have been designed to inspire us and grow our love of wildlife, gardens and science.
The zoo’s 125 acres of zoological gardens will be transformed by a journey of discovery through previously unseen new worlds, extraordinary spaces, specially commissioned creations and new artistic collaborations.
As part of the festival several artists will be performing on stage at the zoo’s Base Camp. Event organisers The Hamilton Project contacted us following the success of our last project together in Bury, to see if we could help. “The area in the zoo where Base Camp sits, is quite sensitive as it’s surrounded by several animal enclosures so providing an audio system that would cover the audience area but remain very controllable was key” says dBS Solutions director Chris Bogg.
We provided a discrete system of DB technologies DVX8HP speakers rigged onto some custom fittings attached to the the Base Camp stage to fit the look of the area. This is supplemented by some compact sub speakers dressed again to fit the look of the zoo’s theme. Linking into the areas distributed audio system also helps keep the sound levels manageable and the Lions happy!
The Wild Worlds festival is free with normal zoo admission. Zoo tickets can be purchased in advance via
